Physics and More…

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Physics is my new challenge and is going to be my new best friend. It’s a shame I am taking so many other classes at the same time - otherwise I could spend more time enjoying physics and working on it. I am also very much enjoying the RTV class - it’s actually more fun than I expected and the nutrition course has opened my eyes to a few things already that I hadn’t known. All in all my courses for the most part are enjoyable - just that there are SO many at once - taking 6 classes at a time is not a great strategy and I’d not recommend that to anyone to try, especially if you work as much as I do too - especially managing and working my Cheap Shots business - it takes away any free “weekend time”. Oh well - life moves on and this shall pass - one day Christmas will be here again and boom it will be 2009! Oh yeah by then the election will be past us and I will have something else to watch on TV other than the pundits flapping their gums… The race is fun and interesting - it’s just so overly consuming already - sometimes there is such a thing as too much of something not being good… it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Still Waiting…

Still awaiting the release of my MCAT scores from Aug 5th, 2008. Feels like an eternity some days too. The uncertainty factor of how you were able to perform is uneasy for sure. That being said I’ve moved on as my courses have started and the load is quite full. I’ve managed to obtain a research position in the nanotechnology research lab for Tuesdays, which is going to be awesome. Working on something related to cancer - not sure if I am supposed to announce it exactly - so for the sake of being safe - I’ll just say it’s an interesting project and a very worthy cause and it will be an awesome experience to be next to brilliant minds and assisting with the lab activities. I’ve had a lot of prepping with lab experiments last year so I surely feel confident I can handle the challenge. In the meantime I am taking my physics and 5 other courses divided among my IDS major. One course I am finding very enjoyable is RTV (radio & TV), the history of mass communication is interesting to say the least. My nutrition course was eye opening too! That course is a Wed evening for 3 hours straight - but worth it - I know I am going to learn a lot there. All-in-all I am very pleased with my education and its direction and feel it will help shape me into a better, more well rounded person when I graduate this coming summer.

I’ve received some secondary applications back from medical schools that I’ve applied to - but I am awaiting my MCAT results before I send them in, not sure why - just sort of want to do it that way. All of my transcripts finally arrived to AMCAS - so now my application is complete, pending my MCAT score. It’s a great feeling to have been able to come this far, this fast - I’m truly blessed and I hope to be an inspiration to others out there.

On a different note I was FINALLY able to get my banana trees planted! Since we moved here 11 years ago I wanted to get them in the ground - one thing after another either stood in my way or side-tracked me from doing so… No more - the task is completed and finally off my “To-Do” list! The good part is I was able to get the Dwarf Cavendish ones - I had these years ago in Coral Springs - they produce some of the sweetest, best eating small bananas there are - I can’t wait! The chickens are growing like weeds and there are 2 roosters in the bunch - which is a good thing - it means eventually if we want we can have more chickens from our crew. We’re in the process of putting in a garden/chicken area now - so that we can finally do another thing we’ve always wanted to do - grow sweet corn and other vegetables. I finally feel like many aspects of my life are at a point of completion or the goals are being met is a better way to actually state it - it feels good when you work toward a goal and then achieve it - I can’t wait to be able to say that about medical school!

Okay back to the grind…
