Organic Chemistry

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Well a strange thing happened today in school - I was chatting with my Inorganic Chemistry professor about getting into Organic Chemistry, and as it turned out there was room in the course this semester and he let me (and Steven) in!!! So we quickly had to scramble and play musical courses - getting Independent study for Precalculus Algebra and dropping the American Government and Microcomputer classes (again). So now we’re at 16 credits with 4 courses, as Organic Chemistry is a 5 credit course. This semester will seem like a cake walk compared to next semester which will have to encompass the number 2 courses to all the courses we’re taking this semester - plus Biology as well - it will be 21 credits next semester!! Wondering if I am nuts!! all I can say is I am very happy now - I love science and to have 2 science classes this semester feels like heaven!! Pinch me! :-)

First day of school

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Well yesterday was my first day back and I had chemistry & precalc. All I can say is I love my professors and I am excited and looking forward to this semester. Of course I had to take 2 transient courses to fill in what I couldn’t get at my campus - But i’m all excited about my progression - I’m taking 17 credits this fall semester - and I am starting to feel like I am going somewhere - one day this will all feel like a dream I’m sure. Thursday night is American Sign Language and I am truly looking forward to that class - as I feel it will be useful to know in the field of medicine, how comforting to a hearing impaired person would it be to have a doctor that could speak to them in sign language, I plan to take this course very seriously and do well in it. Ok off to start studying precalc algebra.

Tomorrow starts it up all over again

Not sure how I got myself into this mess - but here I go again. I was supposed to have fun in school - yeah right. I get all tough courses till I graduate from here and something deep inside me tells me it ain’t going to get any easier either. While some friends of mine get to take classes like Art, I can only dream of such fun courses. I am feeling excited about chemistry but not so much about precalc - oh well - I’m sure I’ll do fine - probably my “B” in trig upsetting me about my math I suppose - how can I forget I got an “A” in algebra and afterall it is Precalculus Algebra - NOT Precalculus Trig!! (Thank goodness!) Been trying to get into another course for the 8 AM slot - since we wound up with a void of sorts - we’re taking 17 credits - but figured we’re not tortured enough and we were hoping it might keep us fresh enough for BIO II next semester - cause right about now I’m feeling like we could stand to keep it fresh in our minds. If we get lucky enough to get into the Microbiology course we’re thinking about then that would give us like 21 credits this semester - so yikes - maybe we need our heads examined :-)

Here we go again!

Next Monday starts fall semester and somehow I wound up having to juggle and play musical courses when the school canceled my Bio II course for the fall. I had to fill in the spot with another course and decided that the missing CGS1100 as well as the POS1041 might do the trick - so from being stuck at 11 credits and having to punt, I decided to take those courses transient at IRCC. This works out just fine since I already own the Political Science book. I was able to find the CGS1100 (Computer course/Microsoft 2007) book via the web link the professor gave me, so it’s on order right now, my daughter bought the American Sign Language book for us (we’re all taking it together - son & daughter with mom), I already prepurchased our PreCalculus book and the Chemistry professor is allowing me to share a book with my son and I have the book here. All in all I’d say I’m ready to tango. I also found out that the other school’s (FCCJ) summer semester officially ends this Tues - so right after that my “A” for Philosophy will get sent over - thus it will help my GPA and fill in another check box on the “needed for AA” chart. It’s nice how everything is coming together so nicely - like it was meant to be - feels nice when things go smooth.
